What We Do

The Lincoln Highway Legacy provides a variety of heritage tourism services including educational presentations, cultural events and private or tours. The Lincoln Highway was America’s first coast-to-coast Main Street and we want to promote the family-owned small businesses along our historic road. Our primary goal is to promote the history of the Lincoln Highway across south central Pennsylvania. Abraham Lincoln challenges us in his statement, “Whatever you are, be a good one.”

We are also dedicated to the preservation and adaptive reuse and leasing of historic properties along the Lincoln Highway in York County and Lancaster County. Think about the creative uses of old service stations, automobile dealerships, diners, motels and other famous roadside attractions along the Lincoln Highway. They may be gone forever in another generation if we do not preserve them today. As Carl Fischer said as the building of the Lincoln Highway began, “Let’s do this before we are too old to enjoy it.”
